Timothy Hackworth Primary School

Our Aims and Values

We at Timothy Hackworth are proud of our school. We look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity of showing you around our classrooms and playgrounds.

Ours is a happy, rights respecting school with high hopes and ambitions for all our children and we welcome working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that everything is done in the best interests of the children at all times.

All the staff, teaching and non-teaching, take their responsibility towards the children seriously and their target is to help each child reach their full potential physically, emotionally, socially and academically. To us, every child is unique and precious and we endeavour to foster a high level of motivation towards work and behaviour.

We are committed to the Basic Skills of Literacy and Numeracy and are proud that we have achieved the  BASIC SKILLS QUALITY MARK for the second time

At all times we aim to centre the teaching in an atmosphere of mutual respect and personal responsibility. Our school has links with our local parish church of St. John’s, the Methodist Church and the Salvation Army which we greatly value.

We have high expectations of our pupils’ behaviour and we aim to foster in the children a recognition of others rights by showing awareness of how their actions can affect others.

The school operates a programme which aims to help children to recognise and change undesirable behaviours through a clear system of reminders of rights and recognition of others’ rights. Parents are always kept fully informed about any instances where behaviour has fallen below our expected high standards.

No one has the right to hurt another child or adult by word or action. Bullying is not tolerated in Timothy Hackworth School and we will deal with any incidences firmly.

Exclusion is only ever contemplated when the education and welfare of the other pupils is being threatened.

All our children and staff have the right to learn and work in a respectful and caring environment. They should recognise the rights of others to do the same.

We are all proud that our school has achieved

the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Level 2 Award

UNCRC Article 28 - all children have the right to an education.
