Drowning Prevention Week

15th-22nd June 2024

CRC Article 28:  All children have the right to a good quality education.

“No child should drown, and with the right water safety education – such as knowledge of the Water Safety Code – accidental drownings are preventable. Drowning Prevention Week is deliberately timed ahead of the school summer holidays when children spend more time outdoors and when vital water safety skills can help keep children safe.” (RLS, DPW, 2024).

The Water Safety Code

The Water Safety Code is the fundamental spine of all water safety education. It is designed to provide simple and easy to remember information that acts both as a proactive measure to help people to educate everyone across the UK to make early, critical decisions and also to help people to understand what they should do in emergency action.
