As a Rights Respecting Gold Level School, our children’s safety continues to be of the utmost importance to our school and within our local community.
Mrs. Audrey Simpson, our School Crossing Patrol, recently celebrated 15 years of working at our school, helping our children and their families to stay safe.
Mrs. Simpson continues to work with relentless enthusiasm and dedication in an effort to help our children to cross the road safely.
Mrs. Simpson was invited to a recent assembly where the children gave their special thanks for her hard work. Shildon Town Councillor and School Governor, Cllr. Shirley Quinn, also attended our School Assembly to pledge her support for this very topical school and community issue.
To help celebrate this special occasion, Miss Johnson and our Junior Road Safety Officers designed, promoted and led a competition in school where children were invited to design a poster to raise the profile of road safety around our school.
Parents and carers were invited to vote for their favourite posters. Thank you to everyone who voted for their favourite poster! Miss Johnson and the Junior Road Safety Officers enjoyed talking to parents and carers about our road safety messages and the children’s posters, as well as thoroughly enjoying counting all of the votes!
Our winners of the competition, Beth, SJ and Grace enjoyed a bag of ‘Bike Goodies’ including reflective stickers and a water bottle, and our overall winner, Beth, was very lucky to receive a fabulous bike very kindly donated by Mr. Horan.
Our Governors, children and staff continue to be increasingly concerned about the speeding and parking issues around our school which is making crossing the road extremely dangerous indeed for our children and their families.
Thank you to Mrs. Simpson, our Junior Road Safety Officers, concerned parents, staff and Governors who continue to strive for a safer school community so that our children have their right to be safe met.
